Our Story

"He has made everything beautiful in its time."
— Ecclesiastes 3:11

We Didn't Choose This Life. We Were Called to It.

Above all else, we are a faith-driven family. Our love for God and our commitment to following Jesus Christ is not a footnote to our story — it is the very foundation of who we are and everything we do. Every bar of soap, every bottle of lotion, every product that leaves our farm is made with prayer, purpose, and deep gratitude to the One who made it all possible.

This is our story. And it begins long before Soap Shack Farms had a name.

The Roots God Planted

Long before James and Tiffany Meek ever met, God was quietly planting seeds.

James was born in Orange County, California, but spent much of his childhood in the rural charm of Woodsfield, Ohio before his family relocated to Lower Lake, California — where he started third grade and graduated high school. It was there, in that small Northern California town, that God was quietly arranging something he couldn't yet see.

Tiffany grew up in Lower Lake too — living on her family's farm with her mom, dad, sister, and four brothers. Her mother raised goats, made goat milk soap, and crafted goat cheese from scratch. Tiffany helped, as farm kids do, but never imagined she'd one day love those same things deeply.

James knew of Tiffany back then — she was the girl who rode her horse through Lower Lake. He never could have guessed she would someday be his wife.

Two Kindred Spirits

God had been writing their story long before either of them knew it. Two kids from the same small town, shaped by farm life and the land, brought back together years later — two kindred spirits who carried the same yearning for something rooted, real, and meaningful.

Their paths converged over 14 years ago. Despite having regular jobs, they both harbored a deep desire for something more — a calling that would allow them to cultivate their own dreams and live in harmony with the land God had given them.

The Genesis — The Soap Shack Baby

In January 2013, James and Tiffany launched The Soap Shack Baby in Lower Lake, California. What began as a small operation — handcrafted soaps sold at farmers markets and local shows on weekends — quickly became something neither of them could ignore.

It wasn't just a business. It was a calling.

The early days were marked by long nights, hard work, and a relentless pursuit of quality. There were challenges and setbacks. But in every difficult moment, their faith held firm. They weren't just making soap — they were stewarding the gifts God had given them, one small batch at a time.

The Leap of Faith to Kentucky

The dream of owning their own farm never left them.

Through prayer and contemplation, James and Tiffany began searching for land. What started as a local search expanded — and the winds of God's providence guided them somewhere they had never been: Kentucky.

A property in the serene countryside of Hazel Green, Kentucky stopped them in their tracks. Expansive barns. A cozy farmhouse. Ten acres of untapped potential. They submitted an offer. Before they knew it, they were in escrow — preparing for a road trip to see their new farm for the very first time.

Tiffany couldn't deny the flutter of trepidation within. But the moment they set foot on that Kentucky soil, every uncertainty dissolved. The land, the people, the rolling hills — it all felt like a homecoming. Like God saying: "This is where I always meant for you to be."

A Caravan of Faith

The move to Kentucky was no small undertaking.

Three goats, four barn cats, a dog, and a parrot joined James and Tiffany on a cross-country journey from California to Kentucky — a caravan of dreams and living things, rolling across the vast expanse of the United States. Trailering animals across the country was new territory for Tiffany, but with faith as their compass and God as their guide, every member of their little family arrived safely at their new home.

It wasn't just a change of location. It was a new chapter — written by a faithful God.

The Soap Shack — Where Dreams Become Soap

In October 2022, The Soap Shack Baby became Soap Shack Farms.

A new name. The same unwavering commitment to quality, nature, and authenticity.

One of the existing sheds on the property was transformed into The Soap Shack — the creative heart of the farm, where every product is handcrafted in small batches using farm-fresh goat milk from their own herd, sustainably sourced olive oil, and pure ingredients free from synthetic detergents, dyes, and fillers.

In a beautiful full-circle moment, Tiffany now does exactly what her mother did — raising goats, making soap, and pouring love into every bar. What her mother planted in her without either of them knowing, God brought to full bloom on a Kentucky farm decades later.

Every bar made here is an act of gratitude. Every product that leaves this farm carries with it the love, faith, and intention of the hands that made it.

Growing Forward

The story of Soap Shack Farms is still being written.

The barns stand tall with promise. The land beckons with possibility. Baby goats arrive each spring — a joyful, symbolic reminder of life's beautiful cycles. And the vision grows: a flourishing garden, a diverse farm family of animals, a farm stand where neighbors and visitors can share in the fruits of the land.
